I know what you are thinking. Another home screen plug in? Yes indeed, the folks over at SHBT Software have released MyHome for Windows Mobile and our full review will will be forthcoming, as this post is a bit of a tease.
Thus far, the software runs very smoothly and is very easy to understand, which may be one of the only negatives I have encountered so far in that MyHome, I believe, could be more customizable. Also when switching to landscape view, the applications view becomes a bit skewed and does not format well with the change in orientation.
SHBT Weather comes with the package, and current conditions can be viewed with one horizontal swipe of the Home Panel which in turn reveals the Weather Panel. Very nice.
Several panels can be revealed with this program by either using finger gestures or via D-Pad navigation to show quite a lot of information, such as missed calls, messaging notification, contacts and even a simplistic way to change your active profile. SHBT MyHome has turned my Fuze into a one handed device and that excites me.
MyHome brings the look of WinMo 6.1 Standard to the WinMo 6.1 Professional OS and even throws in what has been thought to be the look of the upcoming Windows Mobile 7.
“MyHome is fully compatible with all Pocket PC devices with WVGA/VGA and WQVGA/QVGA screens and installed Compact.net Framework version 2.0. Compatible with WM 5.0, WM 6.0, WM 6.1. Not compatible with Smartphone Edition of Windows Mobile”
As stated earlier, a more in depth analysis will be on the way as I get more time to find my way around this software and discover what it is capable of.
SHBT MYHome and SHBT Weather can both be had for just under $20 USD directly from the SHBT site.
