The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a beautiful piece of hardware thanks to its curved edge-to-edge Infinity Display. But what if we could have a phone that sports a fully curved display on all 4 sides, removing the front bezels? Well, that might a thing in a few years.

According to a new report, Samsung and LG are currently working on a new display that is curved on all 4 sides. The curved display will make it possible for us to have a smartphone that only has a display on the front, with a screen-to-body ratio of more than 98%.

Obviously, a smartphone with a display like that probably won’t arrive anytime soon. For one, the lamination process of manufacturing the display has a major issue: it doesn’t allow touch inputs on the corners of the display. If Samsung or LG decide to make a phone with the four-sided curved display, they will need to address this major issue first. Secondly, it will be interesting to see where the companies put the front-facing camera on a smartphone with the four-sided curved display, as the front of the device will unlikely have any space for the camera.
