After many months of work my latest app, “Scene Strips” is having its soft launch. For fans of Instagram, Snap Chat, and comic strips, this app will appeal to you. A “Scene” is basically a three panel comic that uses your own photos for backgrounds. You can add text, stickers, animations, and drawings to your scene and send it to your friends. To explain it further, here is a visual tour of Scene Strips. This is the main page. From here you can swipe left and right to view Scenes you’ve created and Scenes you’ve received. Tap the + button below to create a new scene.
Tap the + button again to choose three photos for your scene. You crop, rotate, and apply filters to each photo individually. You can also delete a photo if you change your mind. When you’re done, click the next button to begin editing your scene.
Various filters are available.
… and different filters can be used for each image.
The next step is captions.
In the edit page, you can swipe between each panel. You can tap the stickers button to bring up the text and stickers menu. Swipe left and right to view different categories and sticker packs. Tap a sticker to add it to your canvas and use the controls to resize and rotate it. Text items can also be given a different font. You can tap the pencil icon to begin drawing. The brush button brings up the drawing menu where you can select different colors and brush sizes.
Various tools and stickers are available.
.. and more via in app purchase.
You can also customize your strip with text and captions.
When you are all done its time to save your work.
When you’re ready to save, give your scene a name and click save. The Scene will appear in the “My Scenes” list. Optionally, you can assign a password and expiration date for your scene. Scenes will automatically delete themselves if you try to view them past the expiration date. Recipients of your scene will be required to enter a password before viewing and the preview photo will be a lock image. You will not have to enter a password to view your own Scenes.
Its possible to password protect your creation.
… and give it an expiration date.
Generated links can be shared.
To send a Scene, tap a Scene from the “My Scenes” list on the main page. This will open your Scene in the viewer. From here you can delete the scene, save the scene as a photo to your phone’s storage, view the password, or view the expiration date (assuming those attributes are set) and send the Scene. To send the Scene, click the Send button. The Scene will automatically be uploaded to a special folder (SceneShares) in your OneDrive account. Then, a share link will be generated and returned to the app. You can copy this link or just click the Share Link button to send it to your friends. If you specified a password and expiration date, it will also show up below the link as a reminder to you.
That’s the basics of the Scene Strips, you can download it now for free from the Windows Phone Store here.
