Samsung Omnia II coming to Verizon

omnia2_13Along with the announcement of Samsung’s new Windows Mobile range, Samsung also threw US readers a bone by promising to bring the high-end device to Verizon.

"The Omnia globally has sold millions of units, and has even exceeded Samsung’s expectations," Samsung Telecommunications America chief marketing officer Bill Ogle said while introducing the next generation Omnia phone for Verizon.

While the Samsung Omnia 2 lacks the rumoured 8 megapixel camera, it makes up for it with DVD quality 720×480 30 fps video recording, and continues to sport that amazing WVGA AMOLED screen.

Although the Omnia II will launch with Windows Mobile 6.1, it will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when the new OS comes out this fall. The Verizon release date has not been announced yet.
