Samsung Omnia 2 has digital compass

It seems most Windows Mobile devices are always behind in the sensor race that’s  currently going on in the smartphone world, so it comes as a pleasant surprise to find the Samsung Omnia 2 comes equipped with a digital compass, despite this not being advertised as a feature by the company.

The app can be accessed through the LCDTest program found in the Windows folder, as seen in the video above.

Despite there not being any software at present able to take advantage of this on Windows Mobile, Samsung has been quite aggressive at documenting their sensor API’s and pursuing developers to take advantage of them, so I do not think it will be long before we have our own Augmented Reality apps on Windows Mobile taking advantage of this.
