Samsung has made a strategic decision to chose today, the announcement of the 3G iPhone, to reveal the Samsung i900 officially, and in doing so have forced Apple fans to compare their yet unannounced device with this superphone.
The Samsung i900 Omnia features a 3.2 inch touch screen, HSDPA, GPS, FM radio, 5 Megapixel camera with auto-focus, face and smile detection and geotagging, and a massive 8GB and 16 GB built-in flash storage plus microSD expansion up to another 16GB, all in a 12mm thick package.
The phone also features an accelerometer which will rotate the UI when it is turned. Speaking of the UI, Samsung has ported its TouchWiz UI from the Samsung F480 which should make first time Windows Mobile users feel right at home.
The Samsung OMNIA will be unveiled at CommunicAsia, Singapore from June 17 to 20 and commercially launched in the Southeast Asian market starting from the same week. The phone will be available in the European market from July.
