While their business performance is of little interest to us, the slides did reveal pictures of the Samsung i770, which now appears to be a treo-like Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone who’s main selling feature appears to be its support of both the CDMA EVDO Rev A and the much much much slower GSM GPRS. That should be fast enough however for a business traveller to send a quick email from the 90% of the world that does use GSM. The phone otherwise features wifi b/g, bluetooth, GPS, a 2 megapixel camera and 128MB RAM/256MB Flash storage, and should be available in Q3 2008.
Moving from treo look-alikes to a real Treo, the Treo 800w looks quite fetching in charcoal black, certainly much better than the horrible blue dress it was wearing in last months leaked photos. This device, now well known to us, also features wifi b/g, bluetooth, GPS , a surprisingly low resolution 1.3 megapixel camera and 128MB RAM/256MB Flash storage, and should also be available in Q3 2008.Â
I cant say there is much to choose between these two phones, but I am starting to wonder if its not Verizon which insists that all Windows Mobile phones should be ugly. I can certainly think of no other reason these two companies would conspire to such ininspiring designs themselves.
