The Samsung-induced vulnerability in Windows Phone 8 is having wide-ranging consequences. Besides being responsible for the first custom ROMs on Windows Phone, it is now also allowing hackers to download and repackage Windows Phone games for distribution and installation using WP8 XAP installation tools.
The XAPs can then be installed on other handsets like Nokia’s Windows Phones, demonstrated in another video after the break.
More than 10 games have already been cracked in this way, and the number is sure to explode in the future. It is likely that there is very little Microsoft can do at this stage to address the issue.
