It’s strange really, but Samsung has been a lot more aggressive about building out their application store than Microsoft. They had theirs available first on the market, have released the full API’s for their devices to encourage developers to make applications for them, and the terms of their app store are also a lot better than Microsoft’s.

Their latest move is a developer competition with a total of a third of a million dollars in prizes and a top prize of $100 000.

The competition is open to developers world wide, with the deadline for entry being 10th December.

The target for the device is a Samsung Omnia II (i8000), which should ensure we should soon see some great augmented reality applications using the device’s accelerometer and digital compass.
