Runtastic has been pretty good at supporting Windows Phone with their latest apps, and the good news today is that they plan to continue this.

According to their twitter account they are working on a Windows Phone app which can communicate directly with their Bluetooth 4.0 heart rate monitor.

imageWhile Nokia’s Black update brought Bluetooth 4.0 to Lumia handsets, it is only the Windows Phone 8.1 update which will bring it to all Windows Phones.

Runtastic has recently introduced a Speed and Cadence sensor for bikes which uses Bluetooth Smart, which is a rebrand of Bluetooth LE, and which is currently only available for iOS. Hopefully having Bluetooth 4.0 LE as standard on all Windows Phones will help bring these apps and sensors to Windows phone also.
