I don’t think many of us are too happy that Nokia is still planning to release cheap Windows Phone 7.8 handsets after Windows Phone 8 is announced, but of course due to the cost of dual-core processors and 1 GB of RAM this does remain necessary to cover all price points.
Now a new rumour led by The Verge claims that there is a way out – that Nokia is working on a cheaper dual core Windows Phone 8 handset with much more reasonable specs that will fill the low-end gap in the market.
The device will only have 8 GB of storage, 512 MB of RAM , 1 Ghz dual-core processor and a microSD card slot.
The handset is set for release some time in early 2013.
I think as long as this does not represent a crippled version of Windows Phone 8 this may be the kind of handset we would all be happy to recommend to smartphone dabblers?
