Double Tap to Wake is an incredibly popular feature that was found in numerous Windows Phones, but none of the current generation of Windows 10 Mobile handsets.
Recently Gabe Aul suggested that if users wanted the feature they should upvote it on the Windows feedback hub, and the reaction has been astounding, with tens of thousands of votes.
It appears Gabe was just teasing us somewhat, as German site Dr Windows reports, from a trusted source, that the feature is already in development.
Apparently the feature is in testing on internal firmware for the Lumia 950. Unfortunately it is not guaranteed that it will be coming to devices as Microsoft is still working through some issues. It has earlier been said that double tap to wake used too much battery capacity on devices which were already having power management issues.
Hopefully Microsoft will be able to work through these issues, but it is good to see that the community has indeed been heard.
