Microsoft announced many new Windows Phone partners at /Build/ 2014
and while many have forgotten, Acer was among those partners[Author’s note: Acer was not one of those partners, my bad}. Now Acer is no stranger to Windows Phone, having launched several during the Windows Phone 7 era. However, after the launch of Windows Phone 8, the company made a statement at an interview last year stating “”We are looking at Windows Phone 8, we think it’s a great OS. The integration with Xbox is nice, the enterprise suite is nice, but I think no-one knows about it.” The implication was that they weren’t going to make any more models.
The company seemed to have changed their mind with the aforementioned renewed partnership with Microsoft, but have yet to announce any new products. That may change soon as Gizbot reports that Acer’s 2015 product roadmap includes a line-up of Windows Phones. They state that the current plan is to launch these devices in the first half of 2015, perhaps coinciding with either MWC or /Build/. Again, this is only a rumour so take it with a pinch of salt. Even if it IS true at this point in time, remember that plans can always change in future.
