Rockstar Games’ unwillingness to add single-player DLC to its AAA games continues with Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, the company is dedicated to Red Dead Online.

In an interview with VG24/7’s Kirk McKeand, Rockstar revealed that the developer is “100% focused on Online right now”.

“We’re 100% focused on online right now, because like I said, there’s just so much to do, and we’re just hoping to bring everything that a player can love about single-player into the online world, and fleshed out,” Lead Associate Producer Katie Pica told the outlet.

Much like Grand Theft Auto V, the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s priority. Unlike the Red Dead and GTAs of last-generation, there probably won’t be any DLC expansions coming out of Rockstar.

“The single-player experience almost always leads the way,” Pica said. “Our ambitions for our online games are just as high, and with Red Online we are continuing to build and expand to match the world we created for Red Dead Redemption 2’s story”

When we reviewed Red Dead Redemption 2, we thought it was a very good Western in video game form. The Online on launch was a lacking experience, but new updates are making it more worthwhile. With Rockstar 100% focused on Online, it should be a fantastic mode in the future.
