Resident Evil 7 is the latest entry in Capcom’s long-running horror franchise, and it’s coming out next week. It takes the series back to its survival horror roots after Resident Evil 4-6 got progressively more action packed, and it seems like it’s also taking the series to Xbox Play Anywhere too.
We learned a few months ago that the game would be headed to the Windows Store, which left plenty of people speculating about if it would participate in the Play Anywhere program. At the time the only information available was that the game would support cloud synced saves between the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, but full Xbox Play Anywhere support is now confirmed.

This makes Resident Evil 7 the third (Everspace and Astroneer are the first and second, respectively) Xbox Play Anywhere title that isn’t published by Microsoft Studios, and the sixth released overall. To get into even more specifics, it’s the very first third party AAA game in the program- both Everspace and Astroneer are indie titles, and despite Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare being in the Windows Store, there’s no cross-buy to be found.
Resident Evil 7 comes out January 24th, which is less than a week from now. You can pre-order it in the Windows Store here, and you’ll get a digital copy of Resident Evil: Retribution as a bonus for pre-ordering.
