Report: Windows 9 Technical Preview Includes A New Feature To Upgrade To Newer Builds With A Single Click

Neowin today reported some new information on the upcoming Windows 9 preview release. First of all, Microsoft is planning to call it  as ‘Windows 9 Technical Preview’. And the current internal builds of Windows 9 Technical Preview includes a new feature that will allow you to upgrade your OS with a single click. This new feature is built into Windows Update section where you can go from build 9xxx to 9yyy without complete reinstallation of the OS.

Neowin commented the following on this feature,

We must stress that this feature is built into internal releases of the Technical Preview and could be pulled before it is released to the public… but the feature is fully built out, meaning that it is integrated into the UI and it is a native part of Windows. So, knowing this, it seems logical that it will make its way into the public preview.

The best part, per our understanding of the feature, is that when you use it, it does not require a complete reinstallation of the OS, and makes upgrading to new builds of Threshold quite easy.

Recently, it was reported that Microsoft is planning to preview Windows 9 in a press event on September 30th. Last week, ZDNet reported that Microsoft is planning to deliver a “technology preview” of its upcoming major Windows release codenamed “Threshold” by late September or early October. Windows Threshold is likely to be marketed as Windows 9 will be released as a public preview for anyone who are interested by end of this year. This Windows 9 tech preview will receive subsequent monthly updates and it will be installed on the users automatically.

Windows 9 is expected to include no.of major changes for keyboard/mouse users and it is also likely to include new consumer facing features such as Cortana integration.
