We reported recently, via the Economic Times of Korea, that Samsung was working on a clamshell smartphone with a folding 6.7-inch screen for Q1 2020. The device would reportedly feature a 1-inch screen on the outside and emphasize portability.

Now Digitimes has weighed in and confirmed that the device is on track for release in the first half of 2020, with Samsung reportedly sourcing components in November this year.

Digitimes sources their information from component suppliers, in this case in particular hinge manufacturers, who are mostly based in Taiwan, and who have been instrumental in the creation of the new generation of folding handsets.

PhoneArena reports that the larger Samsung Galaxy Fold is also still on track for a summer release, suggesting we may finally enter the era of folding phones very soon.
