Few months back, Microsoft announced a new Xbox One SKU that starts at $399. The only difference is that you won’t get Kinect sensor with it. This SKU will be made available in all markets where Xbox One is currently on sale. Microsoft also made it clear that Kinect remains an important part of their vision. They revealed a stat that more than 80 percent of you are actively using Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console. Microsoft will continue to offer a premium Xbox One with Kinect bundle to deliver voice and gesture controls, biometric sign-in, instant personalization, instant scanning of QR codes, and enhanced features only available with Kinect in games such as “Kinect Sports Rivals,” “Just Dance 2014,” “Project Spark” and more. At that time, Microsoft said that they will make Kinect as a separate add-on later this fall.
Now, As per report from WPC, Microsoft is planning to sell the stand-alone Kinect sensor for $149 beginning on or around October 6. This should serve customers who bought Kinect-less Xbox bundle to upgrade to Kinect experience by buying Kinect separately.
Update: Microsoft confirmed that they will start selling Kinect from Oct 7th. Also, you will Dance Central Spotlight game for free along with the sensor.
When we announced the new Xbox One option, we also shared that we would deliver a standalone Kinect sensor for people that chose to purchase the sensor at a later date. We’ve always believed in the magic Kinect brings to Xbox One and today we’re excited to confirm that, beginning in October 7, fans will be able to purchase a standalone Kinect sensor for Xbox One. The standalone Kinect sensor comes with Dance Central Spotlight, the latest in the dance series from developer Harmonix, which will be available as a digital download and features a soundtrack of 10 hot tracks. Kinect with Dance Central Spotlight will be available at retailers for $149.99.
