Report: Microsoft Is Preparing Music Locker Service In The Upcoming Xbox Music And OneDrive Update

Based on the source code on the Microsoft’s OneDrive website, Livesino discovered few months that Microsoft is creating a Music Locker service that will allow users to stream their own personal music collection from OneDrive. Users need to upload their music collection to OneDrive Music folder and they can enjoy their music via Xbox Music app on any of the devices. Xbox Music app is available on Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox, iOS, etc,. In fact, Microsoft is planning to offer 20GB of extra storage to take advatage of this offer.

Today, Neowin reported that Microsoft is planning to roll out of this feature to general public with the upcoming Xbox Music and OneDrive update. They also reported that Microsoft will offer an option to import playlists from other services, such as iTunes to this new service. There is no information on whether this service will be free or requires Xbox Music pass.
