Report: Apple will finally fix the keyboard design in upcoming MacBook models

July 4, 2019

Ever since Apple introduced butterfly design keyboard in Macbook models, customers have been facing numerous issues with their keyboard. Some of the issues include letters or characters repeat unexpectedly, letters or characters do not appear and key(s) feel “sticky” or do not respond in a consistent manner. Everyone knows that Apple’s butterfly design keyboard is a failure, but Apple never really admitted it. Apple always maintained that only a small percentage of the keyboards in certain MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro were affected.

According to research analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has finally decided to change the keyboard design to avoid these issues in the future. Apple is going back to keyboard design based on scissor switches and it is expected to reach consumer hands with 2019 MacBook Air and 2020 MacBook Pro. Hopefully, this upcoming keyboard will offer more stability than a butterfly mechanism, and also offer greater comfort.
