There seems to be a new trend regarding apps being ported to Windows Phone which we can only applaud. It seems companies are partnering with high profile Windows Phone developers to bring their apps to the platform.

We recently saw Rudy Huyn work with Dropbox to bring their app to Windows Phone, and today Plan Vanilla have announced that their have partnered with Daniel Gary’s company Gateway Apps, to bring their game QuizUp, with more than 200 million players on iOS and Android, to Windows Phone.

The game is set to be released around the same time the Android and iOS versions of the game gets an update later this year and will be fully featured, though disappointingly not initially with cross-platform play.  This is however a planned feature, and in addition the app will also support Live tiles. The app is expected to be a Universal app available on Windows and Windows Phone.

Daniel Gary is of course of Itsdagram fame, the first developer to make Instagram available on Windows Phone. He is currently also working with Slack to bring their app to Windows Phone.

Having well-known Windows Phone developers publicly port these apps makes it more likely apps will get regular updates and be feature complete, which is of course a big plus.

See a trailer of the iOS and Android game below.
