Digitimes reports that Qualcomm has started shipping baseband chips for Nokiaâ€™s Windows Phone, with the handset shipping in Q4 2011.
The chips will be coming from Qualcommâ€™s ‘wafer bank’, and will not initially impact is suppliers.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Kinsus Interconnect Technology are all eventually expected to benefit from Nokiaâ€™s orders however.
There have been speculation that Nokiaâ€™s â€˜Sea Rayâ€™ handset has been delayed, but Nokia has said they â€œhave increased confidence we will ship our first Windows Phone product this yearâ€.
Nokiaâ€™s UK boss has called the device â€œabsolutely stunning.â€
