Qualcomm might be launching a new smartwatch chip on September 10th

Qualcomm might be ready to reveal the much anticipated Snapdragon 2500 chipset designed for smartwatches. The company is sending out invites for an event on September 10th. Back in May, we reported that Qualcomm is working on a successor to Snapdragon 2100 and it looks like the company is finally ready to launch it.

The details about the smartwatch chipset is scarce right now. However, it will be good to have a new chipset for smartwatches since the 2100 chip is outdated and doesn’t serve its purpose. Moreover, a better chipset from Qualcomm might be the push Google and other OEMs need to build better smartwatches.

September 10th is not too far so we don’t have to wait too long to see the new chipset and who knows, Qualcomm might even launch their own smartwatch to sweeten the deal.
