Along with the announcement about Snapdragon 820 flagship processor, Qualcomm also announced Snapdragon 617 and 430 processors to deliver high-end performance and experiences in affordable, high- and mid-tier devices.
The Snapdragon 430 is expected in devices later in 2016, with support for a high-end camera and superior gaming experiences. The Snapdragon 430 will be the first in its tier to debut the latest generation Qualcomm Adreno 505.
The Snapdragon 617 is expected in devices by the end of 2015 with X8 LTE capabilities like support for Cat 7 download speeds of up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbps, and 2x20MHz carrier aggregation. Ith boasts dual-ISPs to support photographs and image quality reaching up to 21-megapixels. The Snapdragon 617 CPU also boasts an octa-core configuration of Cortex A53s, reaching up to 1.5GHz. Both the Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 617 are the first in their tiers to support the new Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
As we already know, Microsoft is going to focus on high-end and value smartphones. We are not sure whether the current mid-range Lumia devices like Lumia 830 and Lumia 730 will see successors next year. If Microsoft is planning something in mid-range for next year, these processor may power them.
