Price of capacitive touch screens nearly halved

TouchScreen Digitimes reports that the price of all touch screens, including capacitive ones, have dropped dramatically over the last year, from  US$16-18 to a low US$9-11. The controllers involved have also dropped from US$4-5 to only US$2.

Touch screens are now widely used in mobile phones all over the industry, and while cost has previously been a barrier to capacitive screen use this argument appears to be fading rapidly.

The first Windows Mobile devices with capacitive screens are expected in the next few months.
