Windows Phone 8.1 is officially dead today. Microsoft is dropping mainstream support for Windows Phone 8.1 today, more than 3 years after it was initially released. The majority of Windows Phone users are running a device powered by Windows Phone 8.1, which is mainly due to the fact that Microsoft didn’t roll out Windows 10 Mobile to all existing users. Microsoft dropping support for the majority of Windows Phone users is quite concerning for many reasons, but it’s likely the company will continue to release security patches to the OS despite the end of mainstream support.
Are you one of the Windows Phone users still running Windows Phone 8.1? Or have you moved to Windows 10 Mobile or chose to get an Android/iOS device instead? Let us know in the poll below.
