Remember Farfetch’d? The cute little duck-type Pokémon who loves to wield their leek? Well, Farfetch’d has finally received an evolution in the form of the Galar region exclusive Sirfetch’d.
Sirfetch’d resembles a large white duck who has evolved to wield a leek-based lance and matching shield. They also have a rather smug aura which mocks me.
However, Sirfetch’d isn’t just exclusive to the Galar region. They’ll be only available in Pokémon Sword, meaning Shield players will presumably have to do some trading to acquire Farfetch’d’s long-awaited evolution.
You can check out Sirfetch’d for yourself in the video below.
The embedded video above shows off a new move, Meteor Assault, which only Sirfetch’d can learn. The official Pokémon website describes the move as such:
Meteor Assault is a new move introduced in these games that only Sirfetch’d can learn! Sirfetch’d points its leek at the opponent and charges toward them at great speed. This move is devastatingly powerful! However, it appears that the move also puts great strain on Sirfetch’d. It will be unable to take action immediately after using this move.
The official website also says that only Farfetch’d that have survived many battles can evolve into Sirfetch’d. When Sirfetch’d’s leek withers (not a euphemism), the Pokémon will permanently retire from combat.
You can read an excerpt about Sirfetch’d below:
The Farfetch’d of the Galar region can evolve into Sirfetch’d after experiencing many battles. They are calm and collected, and they make a point of always battling fairly. They are so noble in battle that they are often chosen as a motif for paintings. Of particular note is a painting—famous in the Galar region—that depicts a duel between a Sirfetch’d and an Escavalier.
Sirfetch’d isn’t the first Galar region exclusive we’ve met. We’ve previously met Galarian Weezing, who strongly resembles a Victorian gentleman, and Galarian form Zigzagoon and Linoone with their Galarian evolution Obstagoon.
Pokémon Sword and Shield launches November 15th on Nintendo Switch.
