Recently, another Dropbox app was released for Windows Phone 7, containing a slick user interface but lacking in some other features (Video Review)
Pocket Files lets you browse your Dropbox files, move and delete certain files, create new folders, download Word/Excel/PowerPoint/PDF documents, view/download photos, and upload new photos. Essentially, the app has all the basics covered. What separates this app from others is its elegant interface, which is smooth to the touch and follows Windows Phone 7’s design elements perfectly. For example, when selecting files to move or delete, you just tap on the left side of the screen just like in the WP7 mail application, and the checkboxes appear on the left!
However, this Dropbox app is missing the ability to share your Dropbox files via email, and also the ability to rename files/folders. After a recent update, PocketFiles can now share files by email and rename files/folders. And uploading pictures can be glitchy: occasionally the dialog to name the photo and finish the upload doesn’t appear, but more importantly, after you upload a photo, the app seemingly wipes away all of the contents of the folder you uploaded it to. Once you exit out of that folder and return to it, all of your files reappear, but the newly uploaded photo is nowhere to be found. You have to click the refresh button manually since the cache system in the app doesn’t automatically refresh after uploading. The update also fixed the picture uploading issues. Now the app is possibly perfect in every way! This is one devoted developer. But besides that issue, It is really neat that you can upload a picture directly from the WP7 photo album, by simply clicking the “Share†option in the picture’s menu.
If Pocket Files has all the features you want, then you should consider buying it, since it has such a fluid interface. However, if you need some additional features like emailing files, you should look at the alternatives. With the recent update, PocketFiles is also excellent in the features department.
