PlayStation fans may be a little upset with this one, but not us! The long-time PlayStation exclusive MLB games are now going to be coming to other platforms.
After an extension was granted between developers Sony and the Major League Baseball Association, it was revealed that the video game series will no longer be PlayStation exclusive.
Instead, the long-time exclusive series will now be coming to platforms outside of Playstation’s ecosystem.
“Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, Sony Interactive Entertainment and San Diego Studio jointly announced today that they have entered into multi-year extensions to continue development and distribution of MLB The Show, the award-winning officially licensed video game,” reads the announcement.
“In addition, the historic expansion of the long-standing partnerships will bring MLB The Show, for the first time ever, to additional console platforms beyond PlayStation platforms as early as 2021. Complete details will be announced at a later date.”

PlayStation’s partnership with the MLB goes back decades, back to the days of the original PlayStation. For gamers who love Baseball, Sony’s game series is the best the video game medium has to offer. For Sony to lose exclusivity, that’s bound to be a blow. However, it appears Xbox Boss Phil Spencer is rather happy about the situation.
After the announcement, Spencer took to Twitter to announce his thoughts on the game series going multiplatform.
“Great to see the game is coming to more players,” Spencer said.
