Pinspiration, the best way to browse Pinterest, on Windows Phone just got a signifiant upgrade which addresses the top feature requests from users.

For those who haven’t heard of Pinterest , it has been described as the next big thing in social media and is now the fastest standalone website to hit 10 million unique users ever.

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the  beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

Search Pins, Boards and Users

The most requested feature of Pinspiration has been the ability to perform searches. We’ve now added the ability to search for pins, boards or users that match a search term.

Remember that even without a Pinterest account you can still browse photos, read comments, visit profiles and now search the amazing pictures Pinterest users have organized into boards using
Pinspiration.

Login with your Facebook Account

The second most requested feature of Pinspiration has been the ability to login to the app with a Facebook account. A lot of users created their Pinterest accounts via Facebook and don’t actually know or remember what password they specified when creating their Pinterest. With this change, they don’t have to.

Pinning Users to the Start Screen with Live Tile Updates

Users of the People Hub on Windows Phone enjoy pinning their favorite contacts to the start screen and seeing their updates show up in real time via the Live Tile. The latest release of Pinspiration gives that same experience by allowing you to pin your favorite Pinterest users and rotates through their latest pinned photos or just showing their profile picture if they haven’t pinned a photo recently.

Lots of other changes as well

We also added a number of smaller features based on feedback we’ve gotten from our users including

  • Create New Boards – Sometimes you take an awesome picture and realize that it doesn’t fit into any of the categories or boards you’ve created on Pinterest. To address this, we now provide a light weight option to create a new board as part of the pin/repin user experience.
  • Sharing photos from the Pictures hub – When you’re looking at photos in the Pictures hub and click ‘share’, you can now choose to share the photo you’re looking at to Pinterest using Pinspiration.
  • Downloading pins to your phone – Now you can download the inspiring and funny pictures you find on Pinterest right to your phone.
  • Look and Feel Update – The design and color scheme of the app has been updated to more closely match that of the Pinterest website.

imageAll of these changes are the direct result of feedback from our users. Thanks for using the app and keep the feedback coming.
