Phantom Dust won’t take up too much space on your hard drive despite the upgraded cutscenes. The game now stands at 8 GB on Xbox One and PC because the team found uncompressed versions of the cinematics. A month ago, a creative director at Microsoft named Adam Isgreen said on Twitter that the game stood at around 4 GB. Today he touted the upgrade which doubled the size of the file.

There has been a lot of confusion recently about whether Phantom Dust on Xbox One and PC would feature the same 480p visuals or witness a substantial upgrade. Over the past few months the developers have said that the game looks better on Xbox One but never committed to saying if any aspect of the title was upgraded. That changed today however. We now know for sure that the cutscenes for Phantom Dust’s rerelease are better.

Phantom Dust will come out this spring sporting improved frame rates and will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The game mixes action and strategy in a new kind of fighting game. After the apocalypse, a small group of humans survived underground. When they finally emerged, they found a world where everyone and everything is covered in something called Phantom Dust. This dust gives people supernatural powers they use for survival. When the underground dwellers come to the surface, they’re covered in the Phantom Dust and their deadly adventure begins.

Phantom Dust features over 200 missions, 300 skills, destructible environments and Xbox Live multiplayer support. The title was truly revolutionary for its time and Microsoft are doing the right thing by bringing it to modern gamers. Here’s hoping it appeals to gamers and sports substantial improvements over the original despite being a port.
