The Paypal Windows Phone app has long supported paying for purchases in the real world using their face-cheque system, but until now the feature has been confined to the US.
The face-cheque feature has however rolled out to the UK now, meaning at a surprising number of locations you can now pay from your PayPal balance using your phone, without ever pulling out your cards.
When you go to a supported store (and there are surprisingly many) your face will pop up on their till (or you can check in manually) and the store will know you intend to pay by PayPal.
You then merely need to check out and your balance will be settled automatically.
I am sure many of our readers will be testing out the feature today. A video of the process can be seen at the BBC here.
