Yesterday is National Backpack Awareness Day in the US which was founded by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) to raise awareness around how the total weight in your bag can have a negative impact on your health, including the type of bag you choose and how you wear it. It is shocking to hear that more than 22,000 people were treated for backpack-related injuries in the United States last year and it is recommended to carry backpack that weigh no more than 10% of your bodyweight.
