Blizzard is expanding Overwatch 2’s popular Stadium mode with new updates, features, and long-term plans. Since launch, players have shown strong interest and creativity. About half of all Overwatch 2 playtime in the first week went into Stadium. Based on player feedback and gameplay data, the team plans to fine-tune Hero balance and builds in upcoming patches.
Stadium began as an idea even before Overwatch 2 launched. The mode evolved from a random upgrade tournament format to its current strategy-based system. Now, it encourages players to create powerful builds based on performance and Hero compositions rather than chance.

Big additions are on the way. A new Hero, Freja, will join Stadium during Season 16’s midseason patch. More new Heroes will follow every season. A new game mode called Payload Race and two fresh maps are also in the pipeline. Another key feature, “Quests,” will reward players for completing objectives during matches.
In Season 17, Blizzard will launch a build importer and exporter, letting players save and share their favorite setups. The team is also exploring an unranked version of Stadium to support cross-play between PC and console players.
Blizzard says Stadium won’t replace core Overwatch modes but is rather here to expand what the game offers.
