Analytics company Affiliate Window has found Windows Phone users are twice as likely to purchase items when browsing a website as Android, iOS or Blackberry users.
While Windows Phone users are still small in number, for the second month running they led in conversion rates, scoring 4.75% vs 2.43% for iOS, Android and Blackberry.
Mobile is becoming increasingly important as a sales vehicle, with sales via smartphones making up 7.67% of all sales according to Affiliate Widow’s research.
The data covered October, and also included tablets, with Affiliate Window noting “While consumers are increasingly using Android tablets to browse the web, they are less likely to be purchasing. The share of Android tablet sales is some way below the share of clicks.”
With the Windows Phone population growing, we suggest online retailers look less at the gross number of visitors and make sure they are also serving this buying population with an appropriate app.
