Old Qualcomm vs New Qualcomm – Snapdragon vs MSM7725

The above video (by buaydianway) is more a comparison of the processors inside the smartphones than the smartphones itself, but shows the Acer (F1) neoTouch with its 1 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor facing of the older, slower 528 Mhz Qualcomm MSM 7725 processor in the Acer beTouch E100 running streaming video from the TUVPlayer for Windows Mobile.

What is clear from the video is that the the older processor does not just work half as well, but actually in most cases hardly works at all, while the Snapdragon processor makes very fast work of simultaneously streaming and displaying high resolution video (the ITV stream at the end is more or less DVD quality), something which has always been extremely challenging for our Windows Mobile devices in the recent past.

What is also clear is that you do not have to buy a HTC HD2 to get access to a new generation of experience in Windows Mobile, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the Acer neoTouch finally allowing Windows Mobile to work as it should, rather than struggling with a processor which should have been retired 2 years ago.
