Official Twitter app for Windows Phone updated, removes DM limit

The official Twitter app for Windows Phone has seen a rare update to version

The changelog for the app only mentions “various bug fixes”, but it seems the main reason for the update was to remove the 140 character limit in Direct Messaging, which means even Windows Phone users can  now send messages of up to 10,000 characters.

The update also appears to change the icon of the app slightly, and removed the Trending hashtag page from the app, which had been deprecated by Twitter in April.

The updated app can be found in the Windows Store here.
