Nokia has announced that the new official FourSquare app for Windows Phone will contain exclusive Augmented Reality features on Lumia handsets.
The app will allow users to search for venues around them by switching to augmented reality mode by tapping on the map that sits across the top of the screen and then pressing the camera icon at the top.
From there, the camera viewfinder will show what’s right in front of them, in the real-world, and overlay Foursquare venues right on top of it. This helps users discover new places by providing them with real visual information, such as the exact location of the venue.
This feature is similar to Nokia’s own CityLens product.
Besides this feature the new app now also allow check-in via voice recognition and also using NFC e.g using stickers at the door.
The FourSquare app can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store here.
