Office Web Apps is the online productivity suite from Microsoft aka Microsoft’s answer to Google Apps. Office Web Apps got a huge boost last year when Microsoft integrated it into Hotmail and Skydrive. Consumers can send documents in Hotmail as Office Web App file instead of just an attachment. Word, Excel and Onenote are currently availble as part of Office Web Apps. Office Web Apps team just blogged about the recent update to the web apps which brings some neat new features which enhance your mobile productivity.

More power in the Excel Web App Excel gurus rejoice—you can now insert, delete or rename sheets in a workbook within the Excel Web Apps, and use familiar tools like AutoSum and formula assistance to crunch data more efficiently.  Formula assistance in particular is a great addition to the Excel Web App since it gives you online access to frequently-used Excel formulas.

More options in the PowerPoint Web App

You can now change the design theme of your PowerPoint presentation within the PowerPoint Web App.

You can use the Office Web Apps in most modern Web browsers.  As part of today’s service update, the Office Web Apps run even better in IE9.  This also means you can pin Windows Live SkyDrive to your Windows 7 taskbar and enjoy one-click access to your Office docs on the Web.
