Nvidia today officially announced the launch of GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970 GPUs which comes with advanced gaming technologies that improve image quality and performance, and enhance Virtual Reality. It is now the same Maxwell Architecture that powers the award-winning GTX 980 is available for notebooks, delivering desktop-class performance in a portable form factor.
With Maxwell Architecture, notebooks powered by GeForce GTX 900M GPUs can play your favorite games at full detail at 2560×1600, and beyond, for the very first time. And whilst doing so they consume less power, are cooler to the touch, and keep on gaming for far longer when running on battery.
Compared to previous generations, Maxwell Architecture GeForce GTX 900M GPUs deliver up to 2x the performance and 2x the power efficiency.
BatteryBoost automatically kicks in when you unplug your notebook, engaging a high efficiency mode with a frame rate cap (user tunable between 30-60 FPS). This prevents unnecessary power usage by forcing all components to only run as fast as is required, increasing your battery life without sacrificing a smooth frame rate or a high level of graphical fidelity.
GeForce GTX 900M notebooks are available now from ASUS and MSI, with more arriving in the coming weeks and months.
