NVIDIA yesterday announced that it is bringing its GPU-accelerated virtual workstation Quadro to Microsoft Azure cloud. Quadro vWS on NVIDIA Tesla GPUs from the Azure marketplace will support up to 24GB of frame buffer per GPU. This will help enterprises move GPU-intensive tasks to the cloud easily. The cloud-based workstations, along with traditional on-premises infrastructure, will offer enterprises the flexibility to deploy depending on their needs. This release ofQuadro Virtual Workstation is supported with the Microsoft Azure VM sizes listed in the table. Each VM size is configured with a specific number of NVIDIA GPUs in GPU pass through mode.

“We’re focused on delivering the best and broadest range of GPU-accelerated capabilities in the public cloud,” said Talal Alqinawi, senior director of Microsoft Azure at Microsoft Corp. “NVIDIA Quadro vWS expands customer choice of GPU offerings on Azure to bring powerful professional workstations in the cloud to meet the needs of the most demanding applications from any device, anywhere.”
