Rather than committing to a large production run which they then will be unable to sell, Japanese company NuAns rather tested the waters by launching the International version of the Nuans Neo Windows 10 Mobile device on Kickstarter first.
It seems, in the end, this was a good thing, as in 20 days the company only managed to get 422 Windows Phone fans to back the stylish handset at $250 to $325 per go, far below the 2200 odd backers the handset needs to hit its $725,000 goal.
In the Kickstarter campaign, NuAns stated:
We are NuAns. In trying to provide new answers to the various problems with smartphones today, we designed NuAns NEO; a powerful, convenient, and stylish smartphone supporting the Windows 10 Mobile. Breaking through the glass ceiling of stereotypes that is a Windows phone, we have designed a device that will change your view of the Windows OS system all together. Let us show you.
In case you are wondering, here are the company’s offerings for the NuAns Neo campaign:
- Pledge $270 – one Neo device, and a Two tone or Flip case in any colour of your choice (sold out)
- Pledge $325 – one Neo device, and a Two tone or Flip case in any colour of your choice (you’ll have to order this in case the $270 offer is finished)
- Pledge $380 – one Neo device, and a Two tone or Flip case in any colour of your choice (once again, you’ll over to order this when the $270 and $325 offers are finished)
- Pledge $650 – two Neo device, and 2 sets of cases (Two Tone or Flip Cast)
There are still another 20 days left, and hopefully, this news will be a wake-up call for those who really wanted to see the handset be a success, but have so far not yet put their money where their mouth is.
You can order the NuAns Neo at Kickstarter here — once gain, NuAns will start shipping the device in November 2016 if enough do the same. We should also note that we’ll be reviewing the device very soon, so look forward to that!
