It seems Microsoft is having some trouble keeping their Windows Phone 7 servers up, with their Xbox Live servers now also falling over.
Commenting on twitter, Windows Phone support confirms this is a separate issue from yesterday’s Marketplace outage. However on that occasion it was due to a problem arising from scheduled maintenance, and it seems rather likely the same techs are messing around with the other Windows Phone 7 cloud services also.
Microsoft has issued a statement suggesting the issue is affecting Xbox 360 users also, saying:
Users may experience difficulties with the following services:
- Users will experience issues attempting to use LIVE services that use Token services including but not limited to connecting to Facebook\Twitter on the Xbox 360 Console, signing into Xbox LIVE using the Windows Mobile 7 phone, and editing avatars or viewing achievements on Xbox.com.
We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience
