Seemingly as regular as clockwork, and 21 days after the last 100,000, the integrated Windows Phone 7 Facebook app has added another hundred thousand users, bringing the total up to 1.6 million.
The rate of increase has been holding steady for the last 300,000, averaging about 20 days between each tick, and is double the rate of increase prior to the release of Nokia’s Windows Phones, when it took around 45 days per 100,000 new monthly active users.
The number translates roughly into 10.5 million actual Windows Phone users, though this ratio is just an estimate, and suggests about 4.25 million Windows Phones will be sold this quarter. However expansion into China will likely not show up in this estimate, due to the lack of Facebook integration in Tango handsets in the region.
We however still look forward to further evidence of acceleration in growth which would be necessary to meet the target of around 30-40 million Windows Phones sold in total in 2012.
