Nokia working with Harman for JBL NFC speakers for Windows Phone 8

Bloomberg reports that Nokia is working  with audio-electronics maker JBL, a Harman subsidiary, on a wireless speaker equipped with NFC for Nokia’s new range of Windows Phone 8 handsets.

The Bluetooth speakers  will come in a variety of colors, including “bold” yellow, as Nokia sticks to coordinating device and accessory design, Hans Henrik Lund, head of accessories at the Nokia said. The leaked Nokia Phi has also been yellow, indicating that this may be be Nokia’s new signature colour, much like cyan was for the last generation.

Lund spoke to the importance of phone accessories in general. “One of the areas growing really fast is headphones,” Lund said in a phone interview from Nokia headquarters in Espoo, Finland. “With Apple, they became a fashion element for consumers. The next category for fans is portable speakers because you want to bring the music with you.”

Nokia VP Chris Weber today tweeted an info about JBL speakers hinting the partnership announcement next week which you can see in the image above.
