Nokia will be allowed to customize Windows Phone 7

One of Microsoft’s cornerstones of Windows Phone 7 was that the user experience belongs to Microsoft, and no OEM will be allowed to change it.

It seems however for Nokia, who is “more than an OEM”, this rule may not apply, with Stephen Elop saying “Yes!” in response to a question if Nokia will be able to “customize everything on Windows Phone 7 in order to differentiate itself?

He did however go on to say that Nokia would prioritise compatibility, and would not make extensive use of this capability.
