Nokia Lumia 800’s camera not that great after all

It comes as a great disappointment, but the reason many of us want a Nokia Windows Phone 7 handset, the great camera, may not have been delivered after all.

CNET have tested the camera in the Nokia Lumia 800 against the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S, and found the results disappointing, placing the camera last.

They found the colour temperature to be cold, the focus to be slow and the flash to be overexposing pictures.

We can confirm most of the issues, especially the extremely slow autofocus, the dark colours, and in our testing the phone even had the red central spot, which apparently is due to internal reflection inside the camera.

Likely many of the issues can be fixed in software, and may just be a symptom of the phone being rushed to the market.  If that is the case Nokia better be ready with that first update right off the mark, before their reputation gets tarnished.
