Nokia Lumia 610 expensive in India, but will come with 2GB of free data

The Nokia Lumia 610 launched in India, and disappointed many with its Rs 12,999 price tag (around £150 , $233). This makes it even more expensive than the same handset in UK, where it costs £129.99.

The price is also slightly higher than the Samsung Galaxy Ace at Rs 11,400 and significantly higher than the Samsung Galaxy Y at Rs 7,490.

There is however some compensation with the handset coming with 2 GB free data from Airtel and Idea Cellular for four months.

Vipul Mehrotra, director and head of smart devices, Nokia India said, “On an average people using Lumia smartphones consume around 700MB of data and to address this need we have partnered with Airtel and Idea to offer 2 GB of data free for four months to all Lumia 610 smartphone users.”

To add extra value of course the handset comes with Nokia apps such as Nokia Music, Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, and will be available in four colours – White, Black, Magenta and Cyan.
