Nokia increasing its parts orders in anticipation of returning good times

According to Digitimes’s sources, Nokia has increased its orders for smartphone parts from Taiwan.

Digitimes notes Nokia is expected to release more high-end Windows Phones with “multi-core CPUs and supporting more functionalities such as NFC (near field communication) technology, its overall orders to upstream suppliers in Taiwan are expected to register a 20% on-year growth in 2012.”

Nokia’s who has its own factories, have outsourced its initial Lumia orders to Compal and Foxconn, but will presumably bring the work in-house in the future.

Hopefully the uptick in orders are based on early sales returns, as Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette has estimated sales of less than 500,000 for Q4 2011.
