Nokia today announced a new Smart Camera app for Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices along with some software improvements delivering an even better camera performance in all conditions. New Nokia Smart Camera along with the existing Smart Shoot lens, comes with the brand new Best Shot, Action Shot and Motion Focus options. Nokia Smart Camera takes ten shots in a short burst at a resolution of 5 megapixels and stores all ten for as long as you need them. Best Shot will automatically find the sharpest picture from the set for you to share, or you can go through them yourself to find a personal favourite.
Nokia Smart Camera can be set as your default camera interface if you want it to open straight from the dedicated camera hardware button. However, Nokia recommends regular mode for better low light capture. Also 512mb devices will have limited Smart Camera mode.
Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will capture 10 frames at 5 megapixels per photo like the Lumia 925, but on the Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720, the number of frames (7) and image resolution (1MP) will be lowered to ensure the overall experience remains great. More specific information about timings will be shared following partner testing and approvals.
